Galatasaray's Champions League opponents Stuttgart: strengths, weaknesses and key players

Galatasaray will host Stuttgart at RAMS Park on matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League. English referee Chris Kavanagh will take charge of the game, which kicks off at 20:45 tomorrow. The German side arrive in Istanbul unbeaten in the Champions League, having beaten Viking and Slovan Bratislava and drawn with Atlético Madrid. German football experts assessed Stuttgart's form, strengths and weaknesses.

Stuttgart's biggest problem is in front of goal

German experts noted that, despite a good start in the Champions League, Stuttgart have fallen short of expectations in the Bundesliga: "The team are not playing bad football, but they are struggling to take the chances they create. Deniz Undav and new signing Dzenan Pejcinovic are having difficulty finding the net, and Ermedin Demirovic is currently the only in-form player in attack. But they showed what they are capable of by winning 4-2 away at Leverkusen."

Galatasaray must watch the left flank

The experts also pointed to Stuttgart's style of play: "They are a team that like to keep possession and use the flanks a lot. The left side in particular, where Chris Führich and Maximilian Mittelstädt operate, is very effective. Führich cuts inside while Mittelstädt makes overlapping runs down the line. Under Sebastian Hoeneß, they can play with either a back three or a back four."

Stuttgart will be without Angelo Stiller, Leo Sauer and Josha Vagnoman through injury for the Galatasaray game. Mittelstädt, Führich, Demirovic and Undav are among the team's most important players, while young goalkeeper Dennis Seimen and defender Finn Jeltsch are also among the standout talents.
