Ipswich Town 1-2 Bournemouth: Evanilson scores again as winning run continues

Evanilson scored in a fifth successive Premier League match as Bournemouth won 2-1 at Ipswich Town to extend their league winning run to four matches.

The in-form striker capitalised on a major error from Christian Walton to put his side ahead in the 5th minute. Right at the start of the second half, Leif Davis turned the ball into his own net to double the lead.

Jack Clarke's 73rd-minute penalty set up a tense finish at Portman Road, but Gary O'Neil was unable to take anything from the game against his former club.

Bournemouth started like a whirlwind. Evanilson punished Walton's hesitation in clearing the ball inside his own penalty area, seizing possession and rolling it into an empty net to make it 1-0.

The visitors soon had a chance to double their advantage. After a superb run down the right, Rayan picked out Marcus Tavernier at the far post, but goalkeeper Walton just managed to block with his foot. Ryan Christie then headed narrowly wide of the post.

Bournemouth also came flying out of the blocks after the break and doubled their lead only 27 seconds after the restart. Christie's shot deflected off Davis and into his own net. James Hill, unmarked at the far post, failed to take the chance to make it three.

Ipswich were awarded a penalty after Lewis Cook fouled Abdoul Ouattara in the box. Jack Clarke stepped up in the 73rd minute and beat the goalkeeper to make it 2-1. In the closing stages, a dangerous free kick from Julio Enciso flew just wide of the post, and Bournemouth held on for victory.

Eighth straight win before the international break

Bournemouth arrived at Portman Road on a seven-match winning run in all competitions, and this result means they have won eight matches in a row for the third time in the club's history (after January 1999 and April 2013).

Evanilson, who set Bournemouth on their way, scored after 4 minutes 14 seconds, the club's earliest Premier League goal of the season. The Brazilian forward has now been directly involved in 9 league goals (5 goals, 4 assists), drawing level with Erling Haaland in that regard.

With a fourth successive Premier League win, Bournemouth also equalled the longest winning run in their league history. Having scored in 9 of their 10 league matches, they also lead the way in that category.

Ipswich Town, meanwhile, are now without a Premier League win in four matches, and their struggle to keep clean sheets goes on.
