Luis Enrique hails 'special' victory after 11-match winning run

After Paris Saint-Germain beat Troyes for their 11th consecutive victory, head coach Luis Enrique described the win as "special".

Illia Zabarnyi scored the goal that gave PSG a 1-0 win in the match played at the Parc des Princes.

PSG's 11-match winning run is the third longest in the club's history. The capital club had previously put together winning runs of 12 matches between April and August 2015 and 16 matches between December 2015 and February 2016. The achievement also means that Luis Enrique has won 11 matches in a row for the second time in his coaching career, following the run he enjoyed in charge of Barcelona in 2015.

With 23 points from 10 matches in Ligue 1, PSG have guaranteed they will go into the international break top of the table, and head coach Luis Enrique assessed the match:

"Winning 11 in a row is very nice. But for me, what really stands out is that we have managed to win all our matches between two international breaks. We have done that for the first time. As always against teams who are struggling in the table, it was a difficult game. I think we created more chances than usual and looked for more goals, but our opponents defended very well. I am especially happy when we win games like this. Winning this match was special, like every match we play at the Parc des Princes."

PSG, who have won their last five home matches in all competitions, have now scored in all of their last 54 home games in Ligue 1 (135 goals in total), the longest such run since Nice's 55-match streak between May 1975 and February 1978.

Zabarnyi, who has scored two goals in five league appearances this season, has already reached the highest goal tally of his career in a single league season. Speaking after the match, the Ukrainian defender said: "We are in a good place, our form is high and we need to keep it going. Everything in the team is going well. We haven't done anything extraordinary; we just keep working and doing our own job, and right now it is our time. I have worked hard and stayed focused. I am getting chances to play now and I think I am playing well too, I think I deserve it."
