Okan Buruk brings stability to Galatasaray as rivals cycle through head coaches
Okan Buruk has given Galatasaray stability since 2022-2023, while Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor have seen a constant turnover of head coaches.
Okan Buruk, in charge of Galatasaray since the 2022-2023 season, has stood out for the stability and success he has brought to the Yellow-Reds, while Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor have been through a near-constant turnover of head coaches. Galatasaray have maintained their stability since the day Okan Buruk took over, whereas the other three big clubs have repeatedly opted for a fresh start.
Fenerbahçe's search went on
During Okan Buruk's tenure at Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe have been coached by Jorge Jesus, İsmail Kartal, José Mourinho and Domenico Tedesco. İsmail Kartal took charge of the Yellow Canaries in more than one spell, while world-renowned Portuguese coaches Jorge Jesus and José Mourinho also occupied the dugout during this period.
Constant turnover at Beşiktaş
Beşiktaş, meanwhile, saw a great deal of movement in the head coach's seat over the same period. Many names led the Black Eagles, including Valérien Ismaël, Şenol Güneş, Burak Yılmaz, Rıza Çalımbay, Fernando Santos, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Serdar Topraktepe, Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Sergen Yalçın. Vincenzo Italiano, the most recent appointment at Beşiktaş, continues in his role.
No change in the picture at Trabzonspor
The claret-and-blue club went through a similar process. Trabzonspor were coached by Nenad Bjelica, Abdullah Avcı, Şenol Güneş and Fatih Tekke during this period. Thomas Reis, the latest to take the helm at the Black Sea side, remains in charge. As a result, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor carry on with their current head coaches, while the search for a new head coach continues at Fenerbahçe.
