England women's head coach Sarina Wiegman has signed a new contract that extends her tenure until the end of Euro 2029.
The Dutch coach has enjoyed huge success since taking charge of the team in 2021, winning back-to-back European Championships in 2022 and 2025. Wiegman also led England to the 2023 World Cup final, where they lost 1-0 to Spain.
England have recorded a 70.7% win rate in 82 matches under Wiegman (58 wins, 13 draws, 11 defeats). The Lionesses have never lost two games in a row during the experienced coach's tenure, responding to 10 of their 11 defeats with a victory in the next match (1 draw).
Seeking a place at next year's World Cup in Brazil, England will face Ukraine in a two-legged final after beating Greece 8-1 on aggregate in the play-off semi-final. Wiegman, who holds the record for most wins in Women's European Championship history with 15, has already set her sights on the next tournament.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Wiegman said: "I'm very happy to be continuing the journey with this squad; I can't think of a better job in football. Working at a world-class organisation like the Football Association and alongside people dedicated to the development of our game excites me every day. Of course, my main focus right now is entirely on the World Cup and making sure this team realises its potential on the pitch. We have important work ahead of us to secure our place in Brazil."
Football Association CEO Mark Bullingham said: "Sarina is an incredible coach with an unrivalled record at major tournaments. I'm delighted that we will continue working with her through the next European Championship cycle. We will always remember the trophies and unforgettable moments she has given us, but I know she is focused solely on the future. There could be no better person to lead the team at the next two major tournaments."
England will play the first leg of their play-off tie against Ukraine away on 26 November, with the return leg taking place at Wembley Stadium on 5 December.
