The world's most valuable football teams by continent: the top 50 squads
According to the latest market value update, Real Madrid and Manchester City lead Europe, Al-Hilal top Asia, Palmeiras South America and Mamelodi Sundowns Africa.
The most valuable football teams across the world's continents have been determined following the latest market value updates. The wide-ranging list, stretching from Europe to Asia and from Africa to the Americas, highlights the enormous gulf in budgets and squad values between clubs. While Europe's giants comfortably surpass the billion-euro mark, the highest squad values on other continents remain in the millions. In a list assessing a total of 50 clubs from five continents, sides such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, Al-Hilal and Palmeiras stood out.
Africa's most valuable club is South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns, with a squad worth €40 million. Egyptian side Al Ahly are second on €37 million, while Pyramids are third on €28 million. South Africa's Orlando Pirates are fourth with €22 million, and Tunisian outfit Esperance Tunis fifth with €20 million. The top 10 features three teams each from South Africa and Morocco, two from Egypt, and one each from Tunisia and Libya.
At the summit in Europe are Real Madrid and Manchester City, each boasting a staggering squad value of €1.5 billion. Arsenal are third on €1.38 billion, Paris Saint-Germain fourth on €1.36 billion and Barcelona fifth on €1.3 billion. Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are the other giants to exceed the billion-euro threshold. The Premier League's clear dominance stands out in Europe's top 10, with Manchester United ninth on €929 million and Tottenham 10th on €836 million.
In Asia, the dominance of Saudi Arabian clubs continues. Al-Hilal lead the way with a value of €240 million, followed by Al-Ahli in second on €194 million and Al-Qadsiah in third on €152 million. With Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr completing the top five, seven of the continent's top 10 clubs come from Saudi Arabia. Qatari sides Al-Sadd and Al-Rayyan, along with UAE club Al-Jazira, are the only teams from outside Saudi Arabia to make the list.
Brazilian hegemony is striking in South America. Palmeiras top the standings on €219 million, followed by Flamengo on €211 million and Cruzeiro on €186 million. Corinthians are fourth and Vasco da Gama fifth, with nine of the clubs in the top 10 hailing from Brazil. Argentine giants River Plate, with a squad worth €125 million, are seventh, making them the only team from outside Brazil to break into the top 10.
In North America, Mexican clubs make their weight felt. Club América sit first with a squad value of €131 million, while Cruz Azul are second on €101 million and Guadalajara third on €98 million.
