"We Have Full Faith in Him": Liverpool Back Ryan Gravenberch

Despite an up-and-down start to the season, Liverpool have stressed that they have full faith in Ryan Gravenberch.

The Dutch midfielder endured a difficult night in midweek as the Reds beat Chelsea on a penalty shootout in the League Cup, conceding the penalty that Morgan Rogers converted. With the match ending 1-1 after Cody Gakpo's spot-kick, Gravenberch also failed to score his effort in the shootout, but was able to breathe a sigh of relief as his side won it 6-5. Earlier this month, Gravenberch was also sent off after picking up two yellow cards against Manchester City, with Liverpool conceding all of their goals after his dismissal in a 3-0 defeat.

Speaking about Gravenberch, who has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season, 7 of them starts, the coaching staff said ahead of Sunday's crucial clash with Arsenal that they have no doubts about the player's quality:

"This season there have been games where he played better and games where he wasn't good. He has been getting a lot of minutes recently and he has also put in some very good performances. We trust him. We know very well what he is capable of. As with our other players, when he plays badly we try to help him with the areas he needs to improve, and right now he is in a very good place."

Liverpool, who host Arsenal at Anfield, are aiming to close the points gap to their rivals. The Reds have won only one of their last eight Premier League matches against the Gunners, drawing 5 and losing 2.
