All Bonuses Triggered in Arda Güler Transfer: Fenerbahçe's Earnings Reach €30 Million

Arda Güler, whom Fenerbahçe sold to Real Madrid in the summer of 2023, has triggered the final bonus clause in his contract by making his 125th official appearance for the Spanish side. With the Turkey international featuring against Racing on Sunday, Fenerbahçe banked a further €2 million. All conditions of the deal, which was agreed for a €20 million upfront transfer fee plus €10 million in performance-related bonuses, have now been met, bringing the total received by Fenerbahçe to €30 million.

Under the terms of the agreement, Fenerbahçe were due a €2 million bonus for every 25 official matches Arda Güler played for Real Madrid. As the young star passed the 25, 50, 75 and 100-match thresholds, the club had already collected a total of €8 million. By making his 125th appearance in the Racing game, Arda secured payment of the last remaining €2 million instalment.

20 Per Cent Sell-On Clause Remains in Place

With every bonus clause in the deal now fulfilled, the only thing left for Fenerbahçe is the sell-on clause. The club are entitled to 20 per cent of the transfer fee should Real Madrid sell the Turkey international to another team. In 2023, Fenerbahçe also bought out the sell-on rights held by Gençlerbirliği, the club where Arda Güler came through the academy, for 45 million TL.

With the final bonus triggered, Arda Güler's transfer fee now ranks among the highest figures in Turkish football history. At a total of €30 million, Arda Güler shares top spot on the list of Fenerbahçe's most expensive sales with Ferdi Kadıoğlu, who joined Brighton, and also sits first, alongside Uğurcan Çakır and Ferdi Kadıoğlu, in the ranking of the highest-fee sales in Süper Lig history.

On the list of the most expensive Turkish players of all time, Arda Turan retains top spot after his €34 million move from Atlético Madrid to Barcelona in 2015. Arda Güler, at €30 million, shares second place with Orkun Kökçü, Uğurcan Çakır and Ferdi Kadıoğlu.

The 21-year-old, who is under contract with Real Madrid until June 2029, currently has a market value of €100 million. That figure makes the young star the most valuable Turkish footballer in the world.
