Real Madrid's unforgettable 4-3 win away at Roma in the UEFA Champions League was the scene of both a historic comeback and a new record set by Kylian Mbappé. On a night marked by Arda Güler's assists, the French star made his 100th Champions League appearance and overtook Cristiano Ronaldo with the goal he scored.
The 27-year-old forward, who took his total in the competition to 72 goals, moved up to third on the list of players with the most goals in their first 100 matches in the tournament's history. Mbappé also became the youngest player in Champions League history to reach the 100-match mark. The French star had made it 1-1 against Roma in the 25th minute with a strike from outside the box.
Real Madrid, who fell 3-1 behind to Donyell Malen's goals, won 4-3 thanks to late goals from Carlos Espí (83'), Endrick (87') and Antonio Rüdiger (89'). As Los Blancos completed a historic comeback, Mbappé also moved past club legend Raúl in the Champions League's all-time scoring charts.
With 72 goals in his first 100 matches, Mbappé overtook Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest goalscorers in the tournament's history, who scored 64 in the same span. Only Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi remain ahead of the star forward.
