Aziz Yıldırım on Finances and Transfers: 'We Have Secured 217 Million Euros for the Club'

Taking the floor at Fenerbahçe's High Advisory Board meeting, Aziz Yıldırım made striking statements on a range of current issues, from transfer spending and the budget to sponsorship revenue and debts from previous administrations.

Drawing attention to the club's financial situation, Yıldırım said: "When I left in 2018, the accounts were out in the open. You sold 4 players whose transfer fees Aziz Yıldırım had paid and generated 45 million euros in income. Those players were sold, but the money was spent while the debts remained. The picture is not good at all. Through sponsorships we have tried to secure around 170 million euros for the club, and part of that has already come in. As of 22 October, we have secured a total of 217 million euros for the club. Against that, we have spent 186 million 304 thousand euros; there are currently 38 million euros in the coffers. Come and examine the figures. Stop talking only about old debts; please look at who did what and how they left the club."

Turning to transfer costs from previous seasons, Yıldırım shared the following figures: "In the 2024-2025 season, 21 transfers were made; their gross wages were 129 million euros, transfer fees 82 million euros and agent fees around 6 million euros. The transfer window was closed at a total of 217 million euros. The 12 transfers made under Ali Koç cost 224 million euros including taxes; with 102 million euros in transfer fees and around 16 million euros in agent fees, the total reached 341 million euros. After the general assembly, the new board also signed 6 players, adding 194 million euros in costs with 125 million euros in wages including taxes, 60 million euros in transfer fees and 9 million euros in agent payments. The total bill for transfers between June and September reached a full 536 million euros including taxes."

Also disclosing the cost of the signings made under his own administration, Yıldırım said: "For our own term, we signed 5 players. Their gross wages are 134 million euros, transfer fees 77 million euros and agent fees 6 million euros; the total comes to 218 million euros including taxes. We have already brought this amount into the club through sponsorships. We are financing our own transfers, but we are struggling to cover the burdens inherited from the past. 141 million euros from stadium naming rights and shirt revenue has already been spent. Of the 217 million euros I have secured since taking office, I have used only 20-30 million euros on our own transfers; with the rest, I am trying to clear the debts of the past. This month we will settle the tax debts of players left over from the previous administration; in addition to 133 million TL, we will pay 12.5 million euros in outstanding transfer fee debt."
