Bursaspor's young goalkeeper Kerem Matışlı: a talent with Europe in his sights

Bursaspor's 19-year-old goalkeeper Kerem Matışlı is drawing attention with his performances. Standing 1.95 metres tall, the young shot-stopper guarding the Green and Whites' goal has conceded 12 goals in 14 appearances in the TFF First League, keeping his opponents out in 6 matches. Matışlı, who has also worn the captain's armband in some matches this season, currently has a market value of around €900,000.

Called up to the Türkiye U21 national team

Born in Bursa in 2007, Kerem Matışlı started playing football in the İnegöl Kafkasspor academy. The young goalkeeper then moved to the Altınordu academy before joining Bursaspor in 2021 and stepping up to the first team in 2023. Despite his young age, the talented goalkeeper has been playing regularly and has been named in the Türkiye U21 provisional squad for the matches against Czechia in the play-off round of the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers.

"If he leaves Bursaspor, he should go to Europe"

Bursaspor head coach Mustafa Er highlighted his protégé Kerem Matışlı's self-confidence and his composure in big matches, saying:

"He is very self-confident and he plays big matches well. He can stay calm in front of packed stands. If he leaves Bursaspor, he should go to Europe."

Matışlı stands out for his reflexes, his saves from close-range shots, his stance in one-on-one situations and his success with penalties; developing his footwork, his passing choices under pressure and his handling of crosses will be crucial if he is to reach the highest level.

Transfer claims in the spotlight

The young goalkeeper's performances have also stirred the transfer market. Bursaspor are claimed to be asking Galatasaray for a transfer fee of €6-7 million for Kerem Matışlı. The young goalkeeper's contract with the Green and Whites runs until June 2027.
