Germany squad announced: Nübel included, Sané left out

Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp has announced a 24-man squad for the UEFA Nations League matches against Serbia (13 November, Belgrade) and the Netherlands (16 November, Berlin). Beşiktaş's impressive goalkeeper Alexander Nübel is on the list, while Galatasaray's Leroy Sané has not been called up.

Klopp's goalkeeping options are Ajax's Marc-André ter Stegen, Alexander Nübel and Jonas Urbig. Another notable development is the return of Niclas Füllkrug. The 33-year-old striker, who has scored 9 goals in 8 Bundesliga matches for Werder Bremen, has been recalled to the national team, while young talents Wael Mohya, Brajan Gruda and Said El Mala have also earned places in the 24-man squad.

Meanwhile, Nick Woltemade, Karim Adeyemi and David Raum have been left out, and Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry, who are still sidelined by injuries, will miss this camp.

Explaining Füllkrug's return, Klopp told DFB.TV: "Good form and scoring goals is never a bad thing," adding: "The experience he brings totally helps. Under that aspect, the nomination was relatively easy." The 33-year-old has scored 12 of Werder Bremen's 22 goals in competitive matches this season. Borussia Mönchengladbach's 17-year-old midfielder Wael Mohya received his first senior call-up. Germany have won only one of their first four games under Klopp (D2 L1) and sit third in Nations League Group A2 ahead of their final two group matches.
