Michael Carrick has revealed that Manchester United midfielder Carlos Baleba's injury "doesn't look too good".
Baleba suffered a hamstring injury during the stunning comeback win over Roma in the Champions League. Despite falling 2-0 behind at Old Trafford, the Red Devils secured the crucial victory they needed thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty and a brace from Matheus Cunha.
Before being forced off for Youri Tielemans in the 51st minute, Baleba had won 7 of his 8 duels (including both aerial duels) and completed 100 per cent of his dribbles (2/2).
The 22-year-old, who has made only 7 appearances for Manchester United this season because of an ankle injury sustained at the start of the campaign, had been the team's midfielder with the most duels won (27), the second-highest duel success rate (64.3%) and the third-most ball recoveries since the Atlético Madrid game on 13 October, which he started.
Speaking about the player's fitness, Carrick said: "At this stage I don't have any more information on Carlos. It's his hamstring, so we'll have to assess him. The initial signs are that it doesn't look too good. I can't say anything definite about a timeframe for his return at the moment."
United host Aston Villa in their final game before the international break, and their first fixture after the break is a tough trip to Anfield.
The good news for Carrick ahead of the Villa clash is that Patrick Dorgu, who has recovered from a hamstring injury, is back in training.
After nine rounds of the Premier League, Manchester United sit 17th, level on points with Crystal Palace, who are directly below them in the relegation zone.
