Dani Olmo blow for Barcelona as midfielder is ruled out of El Clásico

Barcelona have announced that midfielder Dani Olmo has suffered an injury to his left adductor muscle and will miss this Sunday's El Clásico against Real Madrid.

Olmo was forced off after taking a knock within the first 30 minutes of the Catalan side's Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old has made 12 appearances for Barcelona this season and, despite starting only 6 of them, has been directly involved in 5 goals (1 goal, 4 assists). Lamine Yamal (10) is the only player in the squad to have provided more assists than Olmo this term, and the young star is also the only Blaugrana player to have created more big chances (19) than Olmo (8).

In a statement, the club said: "Tests have confirmed that Dani Olmo sustained an injury to his left adductor muscle following a collision with an opponent in the Paris Saint-Germain match. The player is expected to be out for approximately 1 month."

Barcelona, who sit top of LaLiga having won all 9 of their league matches this season, host fierce rivals Real Madrid, third on 21 points, in the season's first El Clásico on Sunday.
