Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will play no further part this season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

The club have confirmed that the Georgian star, who was forced off in the second half of Paris Saint-Germain's 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona at the Parc des Princes, ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament. As a result, Kvaratskhelia's season is over.

Although the news is a major blow for PSG, head coach Luis Enrique was delighted with the winning mentality his side showed against Barcelona. Even so, the Spaniard insisted they are not favourites for the Champions League, saying:

"I don't see PSG as favourites. This game was not decisive; the real critical period will be April, when the knockout rounds are played. That will be the most important month. Until then, we have to win every game. Nothing else matters. This mentality and this attitude are in our DNA."

Luis Enrique also added that his team are the best in the world, saying: "Of course I have the best players in the world. For me they are the best; there are no better players than ours."

PSG extended their unbeaten run in the Champions League to 13 matches (9 wins, 4 draws), equalling the record for the longest unbeaten run in the competition's history.

Kvaratskhelia was not the only casualty for the Parisians, however. Ousmane Dembélé, who suffered a hamstring problem during the match, is also expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
