Hill: "Things Are Starting to Click at Bournemouth"

After Bournemouth's 3-0 away win over Manchester United, defender James Hill said it was only a matter of time before things came together under head coach Marco Rose.

Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson sealed victory for Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday, piling further pressure on United head coach Michael Carrick.

Manchester United have collected 7 points from 8 matches, their worst start to a league campaign since the 1986-87 season, and have dropped to 16th place, while Bournemouth, on a run of consecutive wins, have climbed to 13th.

Winless in their first 6 league matches under Rose, Bournemouth have now won their last 4 competitive fixtures across the Premier League and the Europa League, their best run since December 2023.

Hill, who said he believed results would turn in their favour sooner or later, told the club's website:

"It was a really special performance. Coming here and taking 3 points is tough for any team. But to come here, keep a clean sheet and score 3 goals is a huge achievement. The whole team put in a great shift.

United are going through a difficult spell, but we didn't focus on that; we just looked to play our own game. Ahead of such a big match against a side with quality players, we concentrated entirely on ourselves.

We've been playing really well lately, and not conceding makes us even happier. As a team, we were outstanding from start to finish.

The fixtures are coming thick and fast, but we're happy where we are, and it's been an incredible journey for us. It's a massive boost for the team's morale and confidence. I'm absolutely delighted.

We were unlucky at the start of the season, but with Marco Rose things have started to click and we've got some momentum. It was only a matter of time."

With this win, Bournemouth became the third team to put together a 7-match unbeaten run against Manchester United in the Premier League (3 wins, 4 draws). Only Chelsea (8 matches between May 2013 and October 2016) and Liverpool (8 matches between December 2018 and April 2022) had previously achieved this.

Bournemouth have also scored 18 goals in 10 Premier League matches at Old Trafford, giving them the highest goals-per-game average (1.8) of any team to have played more than once away at Manchester United in the league's history.

Bournemouth host Aston Villa in the fourth round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday, before welcoming Leeds United in the Premier League 3 days later.
