In numbers: Anfield showdown as in-form Liverpool host Arsenal

Arsenal return to the Premier League title race after suffering a major shock in midweek, when they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Fleetwood Town. The north London side, sitting just behind leaders Manchester City on goal difference, face one of their toughest tests of the season so far when they travel to Anfield on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta has yet to taste an away win at Anfield in his Premier League managerial career. Liverpool, meanwhile, head into the big clash in high spirits after a run of consecutive league wins and a Carabao Cup victory that knocked out Chelsea.

Liverpool have won only one of their last eight Premier League meetings with Arsenal (5 draws, 2 defeats). Yet Anfield has long been a fortress the Gunners have struggled to breach. Arsenal have gone 13 league matches at Anfield without a win (5 draws, 8 defeats) since a 2-0 victory in the 2012-13 season. The club has never before endured a 14-match winless run at Anfield.

Should Arsenal return with all three points, they will become only the second team after Manchester United to reach 300 away wins in the Premier League. However, Arsenal's 18% win rate at Anfield (6 wins in 34 matches) stands out as their lowest at any ground they have visited at least 10 times in the league.

As for Liverpool, despite a sluggish start to the season under Andoni Iraola, they have hit their stride since September. Apart from the defeat to Manchester City, in which Ryan Gravenberch was sent off, the Merseyside club have found consistency, keeping clean sheets in 4 of their 6 league matches since the start of September.
