Kelechi Iheanacho Makes Turkish Football History: Top of Europe Too

Bursaspor's Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has written his name into Turkish football history with an extraordinary run of form. The veteran goalscorer, who found the net as the green-and-whites beat Muğlaspor 3-0 away in the 1. Lig, scored in a 10th consecutive league match to become the first player in the history of Turkey's professional leagues to achieve that feat.

Iheanacho, who has reached 14 goals in 10 league matches this season, sits at the top of the goalscoring charts not only in Turkey but across the whole of Europe. The Nigerian striker is the season's top scorer when Europe's leading 10 leagues and the lower divisions of those countries are taken into account.

Ahead of Raphinha

According to the data, Iheanacho leads the way with 14 goals, while Barcelona's Raphinha is second with 12 goals in 7 matches. Heracles forward Jean-Paul N'Djoli is third with 11 goals in 10 matches. Another notable name from Turkey on the list is Kayserispor's Taulant Seferi; the Albanian is seventh with 9 goals in 10 matches.

With a historic scoring streak for Bursaspor, Iheanacho has thus both made history in Turkey and claimed top spot among Europe's most in-form goalscorers.
