Sergen Yalçın's annual salary revealed, with a notable compensation clause in his contract
Turkey's new head coach Sergen Yalçın will reportedly earn €2.5m a year on a four-year deal, with a clause protecting him against a change at the federation.
The financial details of Sergen Yalçın's contract as the new head coach of the Turkey national team have come to light. After the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced it had signed a four-year deal with the experienced 53-year-old, the figures behind the agreement have also emerged.
Under the new contract, Yalçın is understood to be earning €2.5m a year. Should he complete the four-year deal, the experienced coach's total earnings will reach €10m.
The contract is also said to include a special termination clause covering a possible change in the TFF's leadership. Under its terms, if a new federation board coming into office decides to terminate the deal unilaterally, Yalçın will be paid compensation equivalent to five months' salary, or roughly €1m.
Yalçın, who won 37 caps for Turkey during his playing career, takes charge of the national side for the first time as a coach. The greatest success of his managerial career came in the 2020-21 season, when he led Beşiktaş to both the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
